Biography of John "Jack" Murphy
- Graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary's College ( Minnesota), and received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School.
- Litigated a wide variety of matters in federal and state appellate and lower courts, including over 40 jury trials and several hundred bench trials.
- Litigation experience before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, the Cook County Commission on Human Rights, and the Illinois Labor Relations Board.
- Supervised the Labor & Employment Unit in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, representing Cook County elected officials in state and federal courts.
- Served as a criminal prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
- Worked at WBBM-TV as an investigative reporter.
- Has taught Trial Advocacy at Chicago Kent College of Law.
- Currently a member of the Board of Education of Glenview School District No. 34.
- Past board member and a current advisor to Prevention Partnership - a drug, alcohol, and HIV prevention program based in Chicago’s Austin community.
- Appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Capital Litigation Trial Bar Screening Committee.
- Currently represents School Districts throughout Illinois at the law firm of Scariano, Himes and Petrarca.
