0 < 2 years = 2 weeks per year
2 < 7 years = 3 weeks per year
7 years + = 4 weeks per year
- Sick Days: Responsible usage, usually up to
10 days for personal illness or to take care for ill spouse,
child or dependent elder.
- Personal Days: During your first year of employment,
personal days are prorated based on the month you were hired.
Employees receive 3 personal days at the beginning of each calendar
year.
- Medical Insurance: Full-time employees and part-time
employees regularly scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week
are eligible on their first day of employment. Employees
can choose from PPO and HMO plans. Premiums are factored
based on employee's base salary, employment status and number
of dependents insured.
- Dental Plan: Full-time employees and part-time
employees regularly scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week
are eligible on their first day of employment. A Passive Preferred
Provider Organization (PPO) is included in the dental plan.
Employees may continue using their current dentist, but would
be eligible for discounted fee-for-service arrangements whenever
a PPO dentist is used.
Rates factored based on salary, employment status and number
of dependents insured.
- Vision Service Plan: Full-time and part-time
employees can purchase the vision care benefit which includes
an eye exam for a small co-pay and discounts on frames, lenses,
and contact lenses. Rates are based on employment status
and number of dependents insured.
- Life Insurance: Group Term Life Insurance -
2 x annual salary. Employer paid.
- Supplemental Life: Can purchase coverage
in increments of $10,000 up to a maximum of $500,000 or 5x your
annual earnings whichever is less.
Employee paid.
- Dependent Life: Spousal coverage is available
in increments of $25,000, $50,000 or $100,000. Dependent child(ren)
is available in increments of $5,000 or $10,000 per child. Employee
paid.
- Flexible Spending Accounts: Allows you to avoid
paying taxes on certain medical and dependent expenses.
Health Care FSA - Reimburses
you for eligible Medical, Dental and
Vision Care Expenses.
Dependent Care FSA - Reimburses
you for eligible Day Care Expenses.
- Pension Plan: Eligible after 3 months of service.
Vested after 5 complete years of service.
- 401 K Plan: Eligible following 3 months of continuous
service. Company will contribute 50% on the first 6% you contribute.
Minimum 1% to maximum 20%. New hires will automatically be enrolled
for a 2% pre-tax contribution amount upon meeting the 3-month
waiting period. After completing 12 months of service from your
date-of-hire, you are 100% vested.
- Bereavement Leave: 3 days. Harcourt grants
bereavement time for the loss of a spouse, child, parent or
sibling on an individual basis.
- Jury Duty: Paid time off.
- Disability: Must be a regular full-time or part-time
employee regularly scheduled to work more than 20 hours per
week.
Short Term Disability
66 2/3% or 100% of base earnings for up to a total of 26
weeks, depending upon length of service. Eligible after 60 days
of employment.
Long-Term Disability
When an employee's disabling illness or injury extends beyond
26 weeks (one week of sick time and 25 weeks under STD). LTD
provides salary continuation of 66 and 2/3% of monthly income
in effect as of December 31 of the prior year.
- Educational Reimbursement: Regular FT employees
are eligible following 6 months of service prior to the start
of classes. For up to 9 semester hours at a time, providing
up to 100% of tuition and books, depending on grades. Benefit
is reimbursable to Rigby on pro-rated basis if employee resigns
prior to 12 months after payment.
- Direct Deposit: Available for all employees
through the Payroll Department.
- Service Awards: Given every 5 years and also
at retirement.
- Bonus Plan: Full-time employees with at least
six months of service are eligible to participate in the company's
bonus program. Bonus dollars are earned based on company profitability.
- Employee Assistance Program: Reed Elsevier has
contracted with Corporate Counseling Associates (CCA). CCA is
staffed by professional counselors who offer short- term counseling
and, if necessary, provide employees and their family members
with referrals for continued or specialized care. Counselors
offer employee assistance, child care assistance and adult care
assistance. All CCA assistance is free and totally confidential.

week.
- Adoption Assistance: Specific expenses, up to
$5,000.
- Matching Gift: 100% match to qualified charities; $25-$1,000
per gift, up to $5,000 annually per employee.
