New REsource for International
Travel (06/20/2002)
Everyone needs to be extra vigilant when travelling internationally
these days. It is wise to know before you travel if there
are special security issues to be alert to. To that end,
we are pleased to announce a new travel-related service,
for the first time available to all Reed Elsevier employees
worldwide.
We have enlisted the services of Control Risks, a security
advisory service, for the benefit of Reed Elsevier employees
travelling internationally on business. These services,
provided at no cost to you, are primarily twofold:
1) Country Risk Forecast (CRF) - an online service
that enables employees to view current information on political
climate, security and travel risks for any country in the
world. Features of CRF include:
-
Business Essentials - an update "at
a glance" on the latest issues affecting business
in-country as well as any significant events that have
occurred within the last few months.
-
Business Planner - a resource for those
planning to remain in a particular country for an extended
period of time (or even permanently).
-
Business Traveller - a source of detailed
information of interest to travellers.
CRF is available via the Reed Elsevier intranet at aREna
(http://re-intranet/reso/controlrisk.asp)
and soon, through your company intranet.
2) CR24 - a twenty-four hour, dedicated telephone
line providing ready access to security-related support.
CR24 is manned by experienced security consultants who are
supported by an international network of security, crisis
management, investigative and political risk specialists.
The main objectives of CR24 are to:
-
provide security-related advice and support
in both urgent as well as non-urgent situations.
-
provide immediate support in the event
of a serious security incident or crisis including evacuation
(or other practical security assistance, if necessary.
-
answer any queries, particularly security-related
in nature.
CR24 can be reached by telephone at (+44 7942 9933), by
email at cr24@control-risks.com
and by fax at +44 20 7233 1744; international travellers
may wish to store the emergency number in their cell phone
memory. Wherever possible, the emergency number will also
appear on travel itineraries.
We encourage employees to visit the CRF
website now, to see first hand the information that
is available, and to check the website whenever planning
an international trip.
Please travel safely, use these services to the full extent,
and know that access to this service is available wherever
and whenever you need it, 24 hours per day.
