from Simon Watts, Managing Director/Heinemann-Raintree
It is with regret that I announce that we are going to
close the New York office of Raintree at the end of July
this year and relocate the US Raintree publishing operation
to the Chicago Heinemann Library offices. It has become
increasingly clear since we took responsibility for Raintree
that it was going to impossible to have two publishing centres
in the US and introduce the international publishing process
to Raintree successfully and reap the benefits of common
design, picture research, production, research & development,
marketing and management.
Within the next two weeks we will be advertising internally
for positions on the Raintree US publishing team that will
be assembled in Chicago this summer. Prior to advertising
externally, the list of available positions will be circulated
to all Heinemann Library-Raintree staff in the US (including
New York of course) and UK so that those who are interested
in joining the Raintree Chicago operation may apply.
I am sure you will all join me in thanking the New York
team for all their hard work on the Raintree list in the
last few years and especially in the last few months during
the transition following the integration of Heinemann Library
and Raintree and in wishing them well in the coming months.
